Most of us have received that piece of advice at some point. It's meant to cheer us up when we're disappointed. But there's a peculiar twist (have you thought about it this way?): If nobody's perfect, why do we keep trying? If nobody's perfect, does it really matter if we do the best we can?
To put it another way: If nobody's perfect, how good is "good enough"?
The Bible never tries to avoid the hard questions. Its writers, spanning some 16 centuries of world history, developed a remarkably cohesive response to the "good enough" problem.
These writers present a God who isn't extremely interested in how good or perfect people are. What matters is their exploration of truth, not their status in society. The writers focus on God's own perfection as well as His love---not on their readers' level of religiosity.
Maybe that's your interest, too. You're invited to join us for an informal home Bible study each Tuesday, 7:00-8:00 P.M. Discussion is always welcome! Bookmark this site and check back each week! The topic for each upcoming discussion will be posted several days in advance.
