We Believe
Here are some brief comments about a few basic beliefs.
Please note that agreement is not required for you to attend!

~ There is a spiritual component to life.
It's reported that millionaire John Rockefeller, when asked how much money was enough, replied, "Just a dollar more."
Have you wondered why we always seem to grasp for something more than what we have? And why, when we get the "something more," even that becomes old?
We are grasping after God. Compare Paul's words in Acts 17:26-27: "He has made from one blood every nation ... so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us." The philosopher and writer C. S. Lewis said, "If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."

~ There are absolutes.
Everyone appreciates love and acceptance. No one likes being lied to. Everyone can identify what's fair and what's not. To test this theory, just try insulting someone as you cut in line at the deli counter.
We understand that frameworks like these organize our world. Just to function in society, we have to accept certain absolute standards which are beyond ourselves---bigger than ourselves, outside of ourselves. Paul, an early Christian teacher and writer, observed that our own consciences are proof of that reality (Romans 2:15).
The crucial point lies in determining a stable and reliable standard. That standard can't be found in our own hearts or minds, since we often disagree about how to apply absolute principles to daily life. Moses, who led the nation of Israel out of Egyptian slavery, found stability in this answer: "From everlasting to everlasting, You are God" (Psalm 90:2).

~ God is interested that people should understand Him.
A god who is only "way out there" is not a god who will show much interest in the events of our little lives. The God of the Bible is different. He's interested in our problems and joys. Put simply, He is interested in us, just because we exist.
The Bible says of itself that it was written so we will know about God and understand what He is doing. "These are written that you may believe" (John 20:31).
We believe the Bible can be trusted as the foundation and basis for understanding God. The apostle Peter wrote that the Scriptures were composed when "holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:21).
